As the Orange prepares for home opener, Dome officials warn of new procedures

After a rough start to the season on the road, the Syracuse University football team returns to the friendly confines of the Carrier Dome to take on Wagner Saturday afternoon.
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – After a rough start to the season on the road, the Syracuse University football team returns to the friendly confines of the Carrier Dome to take on Wagner Saturday afternoon.

With the team on the road to New Jersey and Chicago for the first two weekends, many Orange fans have had to wait to get a live look at the SU football team

Before fans get that opportunity though, Carrier Dome officials want fans to be aware of a few things before they head to the Hill.

"In October we implemented the wanding at all the gates. We'll be doing that for every event this year. Again, we're going to be a little stricter with the backpacks and we will be searching everything we consider an oversized purse or bag. That's just going to be standard protocol going forward,” said Carrier Dome Manager Pete Sala.

The Dome will have signs outside and in the parking lots so fans know what they can't bring in to the game.

Once fans get inside, Sala says the Dome has quite a show planned.

"Our marketing department has put together an unbelievable open, I'm really excited about it and when the team comes out people are going to hear something and see something that we've never done before,” Sala said. “People need to be ready when the team comes out, that's all I'm going to say."

The team will be outfitted in its familiar orange and blue uniforms against Wagner, but the team will unveil a new alternative jersey sometime this season.

The game in which they will be revealed is still a secret.

The hometown newspaper for Wagner – ‘The Staten Island Advance’ - is reporting the Seahawks will receive $400,000 to play SU at the Dome on Saturday.

SU officials would not comment on the monetary agreement between the two teams.
