Boy Scouts to Allow Openly Gay Scouts Starting Wednesday

Starting Wednesday, the Boy Scouts of America will allow openly gay scouts in the organization for the first time.
WASHINGTON -  Starting Wednesday, the Boy Scouts of America will allow openly gay scouts in the organization for the first time.

The national council voted in may to allow the change. Under the resolution, no youth may be denied membership in the group based only on sexual orientation or preference.

The boy scouts are maintaining their ban on gay adult leaders.

The controversial decision led some members to form a new organization called Life Trail USA.

It is nearly identical to boy scouts, except it bans openly gay members.
