BURLINGTON, Vt. - Burlington Deputy Chief Andi Higbee will be taken off paid leave and placed on administrative duty.
Burlington Police Chief Michael Schirling says after an internal investigation by the department, it's unclear if a law violation occured. The Burlington Police Department will now wait until after the court case is over.
Schirling says Higbee will have no law enforcement or supervisory authority.
In July, Higbee was arrested in late July after Vermont State Police say he was driving drunk.Schirling says Higbee is being disciplined for having an open container in the vehicle at the time of his arrest. Higbee has been suspended 4 days, without pay, for the violation.
Higbee is due back in court at the end of October.
