Police say about one third of all fatalities on the roads are alcohol related. They say if you plan on drinking, it’s important to always have a designated driver, or call a cab.
Garry Scott of the Vermont State Police says that Vermont averages between 5-7 fatalities during the month of December.
“This time of year we know people are going to be out,” Scott says. “There is a higher volume of traffic; we know there are more parties.”
Last year, between December 13 and December 31, there were three fatalities involving alcohol, police said.
