ST. ALBANS, Vt. - Two women were arrested on Tuesday for trying to smuggle drugs into the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility.

Polic say Kelly Collins, 45, of Underhill, Vt., was recently released from the facility and 37-year-old Erin Charbonneau is currently an inmate. Collins and Charbonneau are charged with transportation of a regulated drug into a correctional facility.

Vermont State Police say they have seen an uptick in people trying to smuggle drugs into state correctional facilities. Police are reminding family and friends of inmates that it is against the law to smuggle drugs into a correctional facility and that the crimes will be investigated.

Both are due in court in June.
