5.29.14 Near Record Cold Morning

Temperatures dipped into the 30s for some overnight, near record cold.
After a cloudy day Wednesday, high pressure slipping in from the northwest cleared out our skies overnight. That clearing, and the arrival of dry air, allowed temperatures to fall quickly.

Temperatures bottomed out in the 30s and 40s for most, which was near record cold.

Take a look at the records below, as compared to the actual lows reported (image above):

Rutland, VT: 28 (1977)
Saranac Lake, NY: 28 (1985)
St. Johnsbury, VT: 29 (1970)
Lebanon, NH: 31 (1956)
Montpelier, VT: 32 (1956)
Massena, NY: 33 (1970)
Burlington, VT: 34 (1970)
