The Ten Best Days of Summer still has some of the same events which date back to the start, 93 years ago like horse pulling. This event is one of the most traditional events. Horses test their strength and compete to see which pair can pull the most weight. Watch them pull Tuesday and Wednesday at 10:30, 1:30 and 5:30pm in the pulling ring.
Tradition doesn’t stop at classic sporting events. There’s a long list of traditional food like root beer floats at the fair and also shows that are classics with a new twist.
Mutts Gone Nuts is a dog show featuring all types of dogs. Scott Houghton, Mutts Gone Nuts owner, says that back when the fair began, dogs, specifically border collies, were used in animal herding shows. Now the dogs can do much more than herding. Rusty, a border collie, can do many tricks with a Frisbee. Along with that you can see a dog walk on a tight rope and a barrel. The shows are 1, 4 and 7pm everyday.
