Alabama Kids Affected by Cancer Enjoy Vt. Winter

Two children affected by cancer who live in the South got to experience a Vermont winter.
SOUTH HERO, Vt. -  Two children affected by cancer who live in the South got to experience a Vermont winter.

The kids got to enjoy broom ball at Camp Ta-Kum-Ta Saturday.

Two kids and two adults are from Camp Rap-A-Hope in Mobile, Alabama. The camps are similar in that they offer an escape for kids with or who have fought cancer.

"Very, very rarely do we get to experience a beautiful winter weekend in Alabama. So to do so with peers, with children again, who are experiencing the same things they are, is just a gift," says Melissa McNichol, executive director of Camp Rap-A-Hope.

Other activities included cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and ice skating.

In September, a group from Vermont traveled to Alabama to have fun at the camp there.
