BURLINGTON, Vt. - Burlington firefighters say they are investigating a suspicious fire in the city's Old North End.

Crews were called to 52 Peru Street around noon Sunday.

The fire was in a workshop in a homeowner's backyard. Crews were able to quickly put out the fire and prevent it from spreading.

"In this Old North End of Burlington, the buildings are very tightly packed together and the exposures become a very big concern for us," says David Roberts, the Deputy Chief of the Burlington Fire Department.

We're told no one was hurt and no other buildings were damaged but the damage to the workshop is estimated at $20,000.

Police and state fire investigators are trying to determine how the fire started.

If you have any information, call the Burlington Fire Marshal at (802) 864-5577.
