BURLINGTON, Vt. - Residents in Burlington will vote on a new redistricting plan.
Mayor Miro Weinberger and several city councilors say they support it. It's all due to a shift in population.
Question 5 would split the city into eight wards and four districts represented by 12 councilors.
The mayor says it's a good compromise after months of debate.
"The 8/4/12 plan as it came to be known over the last 18 months is fair, it is familiar, and our hope is that after next Tuesday it will be finished," Weinberger said.
Councilors said they support this because it maintains small wards and keeps neighborhoods in tact.
Polling places would change for 20% of residents if this passes.
A no vote would start the process all over again.
