Busy Year for North Country Red Cross

Staffers at the North Country Red Cross say they've been busy responding to fires this year.
MORRISONVILLE, N.Y. - Staffers at the North Country Red Cross say they've been busy responding to fires this year.

For the year, the Red Cross says it has responded 40 times, mostly to house fires.

It has helped about 120 people with everything from food to clothes. Every response requires volunteers.

"Our volunteer DAT responders, the Disaster Action Team members have been around-the-clock, working unbelievable hours, doing amazing work," says Lynn Gilbert, executive director of the North Country American Red Cross.

The Red Cross says it is always looking for volunteers and money to help cover the recent extra costs.
