Connecticut Fugitive Arrested at Champlain Border Crossing

A fugitive from justice from Connecticut was arrested at the Champlain Border Crossing Monday morning.
CHAMPLAIN, N.Y. - A fugitive from justice from Connecticut was arrested at the Champlain Border Crossing Monday morning. 

A press release says William Newton, 50, of Manchester, Conn. was wanted by the West Hartford Connecticut Police Department for 1st degree sexual assault. Newton is accused of raping an individual at knifepoint in 1996.

Newton was taken into custody without incident. He was remanded to the Clinton County Correctional Facility pending extradition to Connecticut.
