Day of Caring

More than 500 volunteers in the North Country joined together Saturday to complete projects as a part of United Way's Day of Caring.
PLATTSBURGH, NY- More than 500 volunteers in the North Country joined together Saturday to complete projects as a part of United Way's Day of Caring.

People in Clinton, Essex, and Franklin Counties in New York helped complete more than 40 volunteer projects throughout the day.

SUNY Plattsburgh students manned a shopping cart in Price Chopper, asking the public for food donations.

This was one of six food drives held throughout the area to benefit those in need.

"I personally get so much from my community that I want to give back to them and I feel that alot of people feel that way as well. Its not a huge chunk of your day, its just a little bit to give back," said Emilie Provost, SUNY Plattsburgh Project Help.

"Throughout the three counties, they are short on food. There's just so many needs out there, its the seniors, working class people that need the food," said Kathy Snow, United Way of the Adirondack Region.

Those proceeds will benefit a local organization in the North Country.
