UPDATE: Timothy Foley, 47, is who police said is responsible for pulling the trigger.
Police said he's facing two counts of attempted murder and two counts of aggravated attempted murder.
Police have not released the names of the victims
But we're told as of late Sunday evening, the neighbor is in stable condition.
The troopers are in good condition.
Foley is expected to be arraigned Monday.
Two officers shot and another victim is in the hospital. The quiet, mountain town of Leicester, Vermont took a violent turn early Sunday morning.
“State Police received a 911 call from a female who had reported that someone had come into her residence and shot her husband,” explained VT State Police Col. Tom L’Esperance.
It happened at 1509 Lake Dunmore Road just before 3 am. That's when, state police say, 47-year old Timothy Foley shot his neighbor, then barricaded himself in his own home across the street.
Eventually, police say, Foley would shoot into a crowd of troopers surrounding his home, injuring 2 troopers.
“They both were shot in the face and they have injuries above their eyes,” said Col. L’Esperance.
Foley's first victim, his neighbor, also took a gunshot wound to the head. We're told his injuries are non-life threatening.
Colonel Tom L'Esperance believes Foley and the neighbor know each other. Whether or not there's a motive, is unknown at this time.
“At this point there's no indication of drug activity, if you will,” explained Col. L’Esperance. “We're at both the residence of the victim and the residence of the person who was taken into custody."
Foley was taken into custody without incident. That’s a feat the State Police are celebrating since troopers were shot and emotions were high.
Col. L’Esperance said, “I think it speaks to the training, the experience, of those troopers that were left at the scene after 2 fellow troopers were transported. They took the emotion out of it and did the right thing."
Timothy Foley is being held at the New Haven Police Barracks.
Police have not released the names of the victims. We're told the neighbor is in stable condition at Fletcher Allen Health Care.
The troopers are in good condition. One has been released from the hospital, another is still receiving treatment.
We're awaiting word on when or if charges will be made.
Police told us Sunday afternoon, they're hoping to hold his arraignment on Monday.
