Fox News- If you’re worried about gaining weight this holiday season—don’t be. Experts say the number one thing that can derail a diet is feeling guilty over a slip.

Celebrity fitness trainer Harley Pasternak says the best way to stick to a healthy eating plan is to allow yourself some guilt-free indulgences.

"A lot of people feel guilt when it comes to Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas dinner that oh no I fell off the wagon, I am no longer on my diet, by the way, every good diet has freedom to it. It has flexibility to it, and if it's your birthday you better have birthday cake and it doesn't have to be gluten free,” Pasternak says.  “And if it is Thanksgiving, you better have those yams with the marshmallow, you better enjoy yourself and not feel bad about it because the next morning when you wake up you are going to have a healthy breakfast and you are going to make sure you get your ten thousand steps a day, and you are going to do your resistance training.”
