Fire Destroys Barn in Williamstown

A barn was destroyed after an early morning fire on Monday.
WILLIAMSTOWN, Vt. - A barn was destroyed after an early morning fire on Monday.

A press release says the building was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived on scene at around 3:30 a.m. 

The barn was filled with animals and the homeowners and firefighters were able to quickly remove the animals from the barn. Firefighter says the fire was brought under control at around 7 a.m. 

Fire crews from Barre City, Barre Town, East Montpelier, Chelsea, Washington, Berlin, East Randolph and Randolph Center all responded to the fire. 

No one was injured from the fire. The barn is being considered a total loss with an estimated value of $500,000.

The fire at this time is not being considered suspicious. Fire officials say the likely cause of the fire was from a problem with the heating unit.
