BURLINGTON, Vt. - Burlington firefighters took time on Friday to visit patients at Fletcher Allen. Many of the young patients are burn victims themselves.

This was a chance for the kids to tour the fire truck and learn how it works as a way to promote fire safety and burn prevention.

Doctors say a bad burn may need life long treatment.

"They undergo operations, multiple skin graftings, and may need some operations down the line," Dr. Margaret Tandoh, Director of Burn Program at Fletcher Allen, said.  "Psychologically they see themselves on fire and and it can be very, very harmful."

"Never play with fire and if you see someone playing with fire - don't join in just go get an adult," Devon Badger, Burn Victim, said.

Badger, who suffered a severe burn, encourages other kids to never play with matches.
