Funding announced for alternative transportation projects in Vermont.
MONTPELIER, Vt. - Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin and and Transportation Secretary Brian Searles announced the recipients of $2.2 million in federal funds for municipal grant projects under the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP).

A press release says more than 14,000 feet of sidewalks with crosswalks, flashing beacons, and curb ramps are among the many safety improvements slated for construction.

"Modern, safe, and accessible transportation networks support jobs, economic development and healthy, vibrant communities," Gov. Shumlin said. “These projects make walking and riding an even better way to go. We are committed to building a transportation network that serves all Vermonters.”
