Hottest Days of the Year...Happening Now

We have reached the climatological maximum warmth!
We have reached the climatological peak of heat. By the numbers, and what climate tells us, we have now entered the hottest time of year. Remember, climate is not necessarily the forecast (while it will run rather hot this week....). Climate is a long term average of a weather value...be it temperatures, precipitation, or wind. The long term values (in this case, 30 years) of actual observed data/values, can be averaged out to a single number.

With that, the stretch of July 14-July 22 is the climatological peak of warmth in the Champlain Valley. It is this stretch of days that has the warmest day time and warmest nighttime temperature combined to give an average of 70.9 degrees Fahrenheit. The average daytime maximum temperature is near 81 degrees, while the nighttime average low is near 61.

Enjoy it. Fall will be here before you know it.
