If You're Tired of Winter, You're Not Alone

Officially spring starts next week and many people say it can't get here soon enough.
BURLINGTON, Vt. - Officially spring starts next week and many people say it can't get here soon enough.

While Lake Champlain remains frozen, there were signs of a change in Burlington Monday, even a countdown to the end of winter.

"I'm definitely done with it," says Maggie Shute.

We asked our Facebook fans, are you looking forward to more snow or are you ready for spring?

Most were ready for change, except Barbara Wells Hotaling who wrote, "What's a little more snow..... bring it on!! It will fill in the holes in our road for a little while."

At Aubuchon Hardware in Essex Junction, they know winter is far from over and they say they are ready for whatever comes our way. There are still lots of shovels, salt, and winter products.

"Keep it around because you never know when the weather is going to change on you," says Joe Faryniarz, Aubuchon Hardware assistant manager.

Faryniarz says they just brought out spring planting supplies. Maybe a pick-me up for winter weary customers.

"That's the big comment: 'I'm ready. I'm sick of this winter'," says Faryniarz.

Others are still enjoying winter, including Dana Foglesong who is visiting from Florida.

"We don't have snow in Florida. We haven't seen snow in so many years. So, it's been 79 all winter. So, it's awesome to be here. I can't wait for the snowstorm," says Foglesong.

Compared to other parts of the region, Burlington has had a comparably easier winter.

This season, temperatures have been just a little below average and the snow total is also below average.

Though that could change this week.
