A new survey Gallup found that states in the West and Midwest lead the nation in teacher respect.
Gallup says the survey was part of State of America's Schools: The Path to Winning Again in Education report. The results were based on a Gallup poll conducted from June to December 2013.
The map outlines the responses of states who have the most and least respect for their teachers. Based on the results from the poll, sates highlighted in lighter blue frequently say they their teachers are well respected more than states highlighted in darker blue.
States who residents are more likely to say their teachers are well-respected:
- North Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa
- Montana, Alaska
- South Dakota, Maine
- Vermont, Utah, New Hampshire
- Indiana, Arkansas
- Washington, Texas
States who residents are least likely to say their teachers are well-respected:
- New Mexico
- North Carolina
- Mississippi, Rhode Island
- New York
- Florida, Michigan
