Man Accused of Stabbing and Killing Burlington Man Pleads Guilty to 2nd Degree Murder

A man accused of stabbing and killing a Burlington man three years ago pleaded guilty to second degree murder.
BURLINGTON, Vt. - A man accused of stabbing and killing a Burlington man three years ago pleaded guilty to second degree murder.

Daniel Whalon reached a plea deal with state prosecutors on Friday.

He admitted to stabbing 57-year old Ralph Bell.

As part of the plea deal, Whalon could serve 15 years in prison with probation after his release. 

Court records indicate Whalon had been in a relationship with Bell, but it ended after Whalon started seeing someone else. Prosecutors say Bell's family is content with the result.

Whalon is scheduled to be sentenced June 23.
