BURLINGTON - Police are reminding the public about water safety after reports of a man jumping off a ferry into Lake Champlain late Saturday night.

Burlington Police and the U.S. Coast Guard were searching the shorelines in Burlington after receiving multiple reports of a man jumping off the King Street ferry.

Witnesses said the man made it to land, and ran away in his wet clothes.

Authorities were unable to find the man, who is described as white, 6-feet tall, medium build, wearing a light colored shirt, in his 20s or 30s.

Sunday, police said they still hadn't found the man. While there was nothing criminal about his actions, they would like to ask him why he jumped off the ferry, and remind the public of the dangers of his behavior.
