If you're still not covered by health insurance, you have only 2 days before you could start facing tax penalties.
The Vermont Health Connect deadline is Monday. That’s also when the federal marketplace deadline strikes.
Anissa Lewis is just one of the 250 person force helping Vermonters navigate Vermont Health Connect.
45,000 people have enrolled so far.
So, it's been a busy week for Lewis.
“A lot of people calling, leaving voicemails, needing help to enroll,” explained Anissa Lewis. “And I'm trying to get back to everybody as much as I can. I've worked with hundreds of people since October."
We've seen monthly deadlines come and go, but Monday is it.
March 31st is the final deadline to be enrolled in Vermont Health Connect or the federal marketplace for 2014.
It's common knowledge, the system has been plagued by technical difficulties.
“There's people having issues with, if they answer one question wrong, it comes up that they get no subsidy. So that's why we really try to encourage people to contact a navigator because we can ultimately do the enrollment for you,” said Lewis.
On our FOX44 Local News Facebook page this weekend, we heard from many people who say they're still having trouble enrolling.
Jim Ackerman wrote "Computers down, website down, perpetual on hold."
Lexi knapp agrees. She wrote that she's "Having problem paying the initial premium...apparently they are having system difficulties."
If you try to sign up by Monday's deadline, but are unable because of system failures, you will be able to have coverage as long as you take the necessary steps.
“You can contact Vermont Health Connect and they will make sure you get your coverage. If you do not make any attempts after March 31st, then open enrollment is then closed and you'll have to wait until next year to get health care,” Lewis explained.
Again, in order to be guaranteed coverage, you need to contact Vermont Health Connect to show that you attempted to sign up before the March 31st deadline.
The VT Health Connect phone number is: 855-899-9600.
