MONTPELIER, Vt. - A national magazine shows Vermont among the worst states for business.
In a recent survey, Chief Executive Magazine ranked the Green Mountain State 39th.
The magazine evaluated each state in a number of categories, including jobless numbers, state government debt, and taxes and regulations.
The Lake Champlain Chamber of Commerce sees things differently.
"Businesses in Vermont are figuring out on how to capitalize on our quality of life and our environment, all those things that make Vermont a good place to do business and help us attract companies. So I think there's some pieces in that survey that really show we have some good strong things going for us," Cathy Davis, Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce, said.
Texas ranked first, as the best state for business. California came in last place.
