This week is National Teacher Appreciation Week.
FOX 44 and ABC 22 is telling you what this year's Vermont Teacher of the Year thinks.
Luke Foley works at Northfield schools. He teaches at the school's alternative middle and high school program called STARS.It helps students who struggle in the classroom and provides them with hands-on work, many times, outdoors.
He says teacher appreciation week is about everybody at the school.
"It goes way beyond teachers. There are so many other staff that contribute to every school day: the folks in the cafeteria, maintenance people, bus drivers, instructional assistants," Luke Foley, Vermont Teacher of the Year, said. "There's countless people, nurses and counselors and everybody is working to do the best possible job for every student."
Be sure to tell a teacher how much they mean to you by tweeting or posting a message on Facebook using the hashtag ThankATeacher.
