COLCHESTER, Vt. - On Monday, park officials decided Niquette Bay State Park will no longer allow dogs on the beach after Labor Day.
You can still bring them on the trails, but dogs must be on a leash at all times.
There is also a designated cove so your dog can still take a dip.
"It's for safety and well-being and concern for the public. I really want to emphasize we still welcome people to come with their dogs, we're just asking that all dogs are required to be on leash," said Park Ranger Lisa Liotta.
Park rangers say another reason is that more people are using the park.
The new leash rules take effect September 2.
