Albany is working on improving Common Core standards in the state.
ALBANY, N.Y. - Albany is working on improving Common Core standards in the state. A state Board of Regents subcommittee heard 19 recommendations Monday.

The idea is to help everyone adjust to new standards over time.

Suggestions included:
  • Letting teachers fight low evaluation scores
  • Reducing local testing
  • postponing a new graduation requirement until 2022
The class of 2022 would be the first required to pass Common Core exams to graduate. The full Board of Regents will vote on the recommendations Tuesday.
