CONCORD, N.H. - A bill that would expanding background checks on guns at gun shops, gun shows, and the Internet failed in the House on Wednesday.

The legislation would have required all firearm sales in New Hampshire to be processed through a licensed firearm dealer, who would conduct a background check for each gun sale.

House members voted 242-118 to kill the bill.

The bill would have also created a committee to study the correlation between NH laws and the low violent crime rate in the state.
