UPDATE: CCTA BUS DRIVERS WILL STRIKE

After eight months of contract negotiations, and a 15 hour meeting yesterday alone, the Chittenden County Transportation Authority bus drivers have decided to strike. This is according to Tony St. Hilaire, a spokesperson for the Teamsters Local 597 Union, which represents the CCTA bus drivers.

St. Hilaire said, "we need to get the group together before we pick a day."

BURLINGTON, Vt. - Still no word on whether CCTA bus drivers will strike.

CCTA representatives have been meeting with the drivers union all day trying to negotiate a new contract. The drivers announced Wednesday they would strike if demands weren't met.

Contract negotiations have been going on for more than eight months. The latest proposal from CCTA was overwhelmingly voted down by the drivers.

FOX 44 and ABC 22 will provide updates when they become available.
