ALBANY, N.Y. - The New York Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is reminding ice anglers to remove ice shanties. They have to be removed by March 15.
A press release says the removal of ice shanties is required by state law. Ice shanties must be removed even though ice in some areas may still be thick.
Anyone who fails to remove their shanty by March 15 is subject to a ticket and fine of $100.
