Plattsburgh Fire Department Awarded $43K Grant

Congressman Bill Owens (D-NY 21) announced a $43,982 grant awarded to the Plattsburgh Fire Department.
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - Congressman Bill Owens (D-NY 21) announced a $43,982 grant awarded to the Plattsburgh Fire Department.

A press release says the funding will supply lightweight protective gear for the department's ambulance service when responding to possible exposure to pathogens.

“Emergency responders have to be ready to face any public health or public safety crisis at a moment’s notice,” said Owens. “The equipment funded by this grant allows the department to prepare for such emergencies while ensuring public safety and the safety of the first responders."

The funding comes from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) FY 2013 Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) program. The grant will be administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
