Police: 3-Week-Old Puppy Stolen From Home

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - Police responded to a residential burglary on Sandalwood Way on Sunday.

Police say the homeowner reported a 3-week-old Shepard/Husky mix male puppy stolen from its mother inside the residence.

Travis Skelly, 33, of Cadyville, N.Y., is accused of wrapping the dog in a towel and placing the animal under the passenger's seat of his car. Police located and the vehicle on Route 374. Police say they heard the animal whimpering inside the vehicle, which led to its discovery.

Skelly was arrested and charged with 2nd degree burglary and petit larceny. He was remanded to the Clinton County Jail and is being held without bail.

His next court appearance is in September.

Officers say they returned the puppy to the owner and its mother.
