Found Proctor Body Identified As Maryann Foster

Vermont State Police are investigating a body of a woman found in Proctor.
PROCTOR, Vt. - UPDATE:

A death investigation is underway after a woman's body was found near a Proctor hydro-electric plant.

Green Mountian Power tell ABC22 FOX44, it was a scary moment for some of their maintenence workers around 8am Friday Morning.

The workers discovered the decaying body underneath a bridge on the shore of Otter Creek.

The Rutland County Sheriff Stephen Benard said the workers were certain the body wasn't there a couple days ago, and believe the body washed up on the shore as a result of recent heavy rains there.

Upon intial investigation, state police and the Rutland County Sheriff's Department said they don't know how long the woman has been dead.

Detectives are in the process of identifying marks on the body.

An autopsy was performed Friday afternoon.

Not too long ago in February a Proctor woman, MaryAnn Foster went missing.

The Rutland County Sheriff said it's in the same general area where she was last seen, but they don't know if the two cases are connected.

Details are still very limited at this time.

"It's been 94 days, and I think about MaryAnn everyday, and I hope that we find her everyday, and I truly hope this is MaryAnn because it will give closure to her family. Her family is from out of state, and they are very distraught, and this will give them some closure if it is," said Sheriff Benard.

He added detectives don't suspect foul play in the Foster case, but a neighbor reporter Christine Souders spoke with on Friday said she is not convinced.

Results from the autopsy are expected to be released next week.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to give them a call at 802-773-9101.
