POWNAL, Vt. - St. Albans Police say the man who they rescued from a fire early Wednesday morning has died.

Police and firefighters responded to an apartment fire on South Main Street in St. Albans at around 1:15 a.m. Wednesday. Police say they went inside after they heard 72-year-old Thomas Page, who has a disability, yelling for help.

The St. Albans Police Department were first on scene and carried him to safety. Page sustained burns to his back and arms.
