Police: Newport Mayor Charged With Drunk Driving in July Crash

Vermont State Police are charging Newport Mayor Paul Monette with DUI after blood sample test results are in from a July crash.
BARTON, Vt. - Vermont State Police are charging Newport Mayor Paul Monette with DUI after blood sample test results are in from a July crash.

Police say Monette, 51, of Newport, Vt., is due in court on October 1 to answer to the charge of DUI #2.

On July 21 at around 2 a.m., Monette was traveling north on I-91 when he lost control of his 2012 Toyota Prius. Monette crossed the median and flipped numerous times.

Monette wasn't seriously injured in the crash.
