Severe thunderstorms impacted central and western NY and near the capital district of Albany Thursday. One storm in particular ramped up enough to spawn a tornado warning from the National Weather Service in Albany, NY. The warning was issued at 3:39pm for the storm located near Duanesburg, NY. Doppler radar indicated rotation within the storm and a possible tornado. The NWS then continued the warning even longer for communities in the storm path with the indication that trained storm spotters actually saw a tornado and resultant damage.

There are numerous reports of damage to buildings, and large hail reports (some hail as large as a grapefruit). Particular areas include Duanesburg, Amsterdam, and Delanson.
