Red Cross Collects Cards For Soldiers

Every year around the holidays the Red Cross gathers cards to send to our soldiers serving overseas. Volunteers set up shop at the University Mall Saturday in Burlington to gather signatures for the 'Holiday Mail for Heroes' drive.
BURLINGTON, Vt.- Every year around the holidays the Red Cross gathers cards to send to our soldiers serving overseas.
Volunteers set up shop at the University Mall Saturday in Burlington to gather signatures for the 'Holiday Mail for Heroes' drive.
Many people stopped by to sign a card or write a personal message to those serving our country.

“My roommate is in the military and I’ve seen how it’s impacted her life and I’m really proud of her and I feel that it’s important for troops overseas to know that we are also proud of them and that we support them,” said Karleen Richardson.

Since 2006 the Red Cross has sent more than six million cards overseas during the holiday time.
The cards will be collected and mailed out on December 6th.

For those unable to stop by one of these locations, the Red Cross is inviting the public to send messages of thanks and holiday cheer until December 6th by mailing them to:
