Red Cross Talks New Flood App

With concerns regarding flooding, the Red Cross has a new app for people to turn to.
BURLINGTON, Vt.- There's a new place to turn to for information about what to do or where to go during a flood.

The Red Cross recently released a new flood app, containing step-by-step instructions for what to do before, during, and after a flood.

"What we want to do is make sure people have information right in the palm of their hand for before, during, and after flood waters strike so they know what to do," says Red Cross Spokesperson, Doug Bishop.

The app also comes with a tool kit, which has a strobelight, flashlight, and alarm accessible on any Android or iPhone.

"You can also get flood watches and warnings from NOAA anytime," says Bishop.  "If you need to know if shelters are open and where they are, that's all in the app."

The flood app is the latest in the series of Red Cross emergency preparedness apps.  It has similar apps for tornadoes, hurricanes, and earthquakes.
