Small Earthquake Detected in North Country

A small earthquake was detected in Northern New York Sunday night.
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - A small earthquake was detected in Northern New York Sunday night.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the magnitude 1.8 earthquake occurred around 9:30 P.M. 6 miles west-northwest of Dannemora and 19 miles west-northwest of Plattsburgh.

The Adirondack region is one of the more seismically active parts of the Northeast, according to the USGS.
