Some electric companies want you to conserve during peak times.

Some electric companies want you to conserve during peak times.

While Burlington Electric says they're not worried about an outage, people should cut back, just in case, so the power grid doesn't become too stressed. Those peak times are from one to 5 over the next few days.

"Overnight power is very inexpensive and the throughout the day it goes up. but if we are saving money here and BED all of our customers benefit," Mary Sullivan, of Burlington Electric, said.

Vermont Electric Cooperative is also asking customers to limit usage. They suggest turning off all unnecessary lights, delaying use of major appliances such as dishwashers, washing machines, and clothes dryers, and raising the thermostat or air conditioner by three degrees.
