SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. - South Burlington's city center is one step closer to reality.
Project Director Ilona Blanchard says the Market Street project is almost ready to be submitted to the council for permits. It includes new lighting, a wider shared-use path, and new landscaping.
It should attract more businesses to the area.
"I think businesses want to be where people are," Blanchard said. "Our job is to work with private development and the community to bring people to this area."
The project is nearing its final phases before construction.
The city needs to get permits and then will work to make sure its complying with all regulations. Once that step is complete, the project will go up for bid.
The community will then get a chance to vote on how the city will pay for it.
