ST. ALBANS, Vt. - A statue, more than 120 years old, could soon receive a makeover.
The fountain was a gift to Saint Albans back in 1887. It's in need of some repairs that will cost upwards of $200,000.
The Franklin County Chamber of Commerce says its important to help save what some consider a staple in Taylor Park.
"This is a huge part of the tourist componant for Franklin County and it's also an iconic symbol for Franklin County," Lisamerie Charlesworth, of the Franklin County Regional Chamber of Commerce said. "So for all of those reasons we felt yes, we want to help."
The rotary club of Saint Albans has stepped up to raise the funds needed through fundraisers. The next one is Friday night at a Chamber of Commerce dinner. Items from local artists will be auctioned off to help repair the fountain.
