Storm Causes Cancellations at Burlington Airport

Burlington International Airport is open but that's just officially.
SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. - Burlington International Airport is open but that's just officially.

On Wednesday, the last flight out of Burlington was a United flight to Newark that left around 4:00pm.

Airlines preemptively cancelled all the other flights Wednesday night because of the storm.

Airport plow crews have been working since early Wednesday morning and will continue straight through the night.

"Our maintenance guys, our snow plowers just tackle this like any other storm. We just take one taxiway, one runway at a time. We just keep everything on the runway if we need to and we keep that runway safe for landings and takeoffs," says Doug Wood, Assistant Director of Operations at Burlington International Airport.

There are already cancellations for Thursday.

Right now, the first scheduled arrival is a flight at 8:00am.
