Stowe Republican Considers Run for Governor

State Rep. Heidi Scheuermann is exploring running for Governor this fall, offering a GOP challenge to incumbent Gov. Peter Shumlin (D-Vermont).
MONTPELIER - State Rep. Heidi Scheuermann is exploring running for Governor this fall, offering a GOP challenge to incumbent Gov. Peter Shumlin (D-Vermont).

Scheuermann says she will decide soon if she will throw her hat in the ring this November. She says she believes Vermonters are looking for an alternative to Gov. Shumlin.

"I would have a very positive message, one with really good common sense ideas to grow our economy, to make healthcare work for every Vermonter, and to fix property taxes and education funding," Scheuermann said.

Governor Shumlin has not officially announced he is running for re-election. He told reporters Thursday he will discuss it after Labor Day.

Scheuermann is in her 4th term as a State Representative. She was first elected in 2006.
