Two of the three men linked to the murder 2010 murder of Mary Pat O’Hagan were arraigned in Caledonia county criminal court Monday.
33 year old Keith Baird of Sutton, VT and 27 year old Richard Fletcher of Sheffield, VT stood in court charged, for the first time, with robbing, kidnapping, then killing 78 year old Mary Pat O'Hagan.
23 year old Michael Norrie is also facing those charges but is currently in federal prison in Pennsylvania. Law enforcement is working to bring him back to Vermont.
“Three and a half years ago today we lost our beloved mother, grandmother sister aunt friend pat O’Hagan,” son Shawn O’Hagan said.
For O'Hagan's sons Mark and Shawn Monday was a relief.
“Today meant that somebody is being held responsible for our mother's death,” Shawn said.
For a while the two of them thought this day might never come. Police were told conflicting stories about how and why O’Hagan was killed which complicated their investigation.
Police are now confident that Baird, Fletcher and Norrie are responsible for killing O’Hagan after breaking into her Sheffield home.
They say Norrie was the one who shot O’Hagan in the back of the head. The police report shows all three worked to cover up the crime, moving O’Hagan’s body several times and even burning some of their own clothes.
Baird had several people there in his support who say he had nothing to do with it.They say Norrie (sometimes called mouse boy) and Fletcher are responsible.
“I don't think he did it. I think mouse boy and Richard did it. I think they're scum bags,” Mike Bell said.
All three men are currently in jail for other crimes. Baird’s and Fletcher’s bail is set at $500,000 but they can’t be released due to current confinement. Other conditions include not communicating with a host of people who are involved in the case.
