WOODSTOCK, Vt. - In the Woodstock area, the Chamber of Commerce is expecting thousands of visitors during this upcoming holiday weekend.

In Woodstock Tuesday, you couldn't ask for a better day to sell fall foliage in Vermont and catch the changing colors.

"They've been great. They've been great," says Jill Osborn.

Osborn and Pat Davis are from Colorado and visiting Vermont for a week.

"Even actually in the rain the fall foliage is still beautiful," says Davis.

They are just some of the people arriving here.

"This next weekend we're going to see two to three thousand people a day at the welcome center," says Beth Finlayson, director of the Woodstock Area Chamber of Commerce.

For many businesses last weekend and this upcoming weekend is the busiest time of the year. It's almost like their Christmas. Speaking of holiday shopping.

"All my christmas shopping is done," says Osborn.

Our friends from Colorado have been busy.

"Of course yes we do support the local economy, a lot," says Davis.

Besides leaves and shopping, Finlayson says special events are going on this weekend.

While the government shutdown means the Rockefeller National Historic Park is closed, the Billings Farm across the street is open.

"Billings Farms has wonderful events going on this weekend," says Finlayson.

Fall foliage is big business for Vermont. The state says about three-and a half million people will visit, spending nearly a half-billion dollars.
