LEICESTER, VT. - Vermont State Police have released the name of the suspect in Sunday's shooting in Leicester, VT. Timothy Foley, 47, of Leicester is in custody. Police say, he was the man who shot his neighbor at 1509 Lake Dunmore Rd., in Leicester at around 3:00am Sunday morning. The male victim, whose name is not being released at this time, is in stable condition at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington after suffering a gunshot wound to the head.
After shooting his neighbor, police say, Foley then barricaded himself in his home across the street. When police responded, Foley allegedly began shooting from inside his house. Two Vermont State troopers were struck in the head with shotgun pellets. Both are in good condition. One trooper has been released from Porter Hospital in Middlebury. The other was transported to Fletcher Allen Health Care to receive additional treatment. Their names are unknown at this time.
After negotiating, Foley was taken into custody without incident. He remains in custody at the New Haven police barracks.
The investigation is ongoing.
LEICESTER, VT. - According to police, two Vermont state troopers and a man were shot early Sunday morning in Leicester.
Around 3 a.m. Sunday morning, Police said they responded to the report of a shooting at 1509 Lake Dunmore Road. When police arrived they found a man with life threatening injuries; he was transported to Porter Hospital.
Police say when the troopers tried to establish contact with the suspect, who also lived on Lake Dunmore Road, the suspect fired shots at troopers. Two Vermont State Police troopers sustained non-life threatening injuries and were also transported to Porter Hospital.
The suspect was ultimately taken into custody by the Vermont State Police at approximately 6:00 a.m. this morning. Police have not released the names of the victims, or the suspects.
Police are holding a news conference at 1:00 p.m.; FOX44/ABC22 will be there and we will have more information when it becomes available.
