ESSEX JUNCTION, Vt. - The United States Postal Service will be conducting an emergency drill at the Burlington Processing and Distribution Center located on New England Drive on Tuesday. The drill will begin at approximately 6 p.m. and continue for about two hours.

A press release says the drill may effect travel during the evacuation and arrival of emergency equipment. Roads that may be affected include New England Drive, Kellogg Road, and Susie Wilson Road. Drivers are urged to plan ahead and seek alternate routes if possible.

The drill will evacuate employees at the mail processing and distributing center and several volunteers will go through a decontamination process. The goal is to evaluate the response of the Postal Service, local emergency services, health care providers, law enforcement, and  first responders to a potential hazardous material alert.
