US Sen. Sanders Says Kids Should Start Education Earlier

U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) says we're failing our kids by not educating them early enough.
MONTPELIER, Vt. - U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) says we're failing our kids by not educating them early enough.

Sanders testified at the Vermont Statehouse before the House and Senate education committees.

In December, Vermont received $37 million in federal funds to bolster pre-k programs. Sanders says it's a good start, but more should be done.

"If I had the power what I would suggest to you is that we have got to end this absurdity that education, or public education begins at age 4 or 5," Sanders said.

On the other end, Sanders also addressed high tuition costs. He said the percentage of americans who have a college degree today is no higher than it was 30 years ago.
